Summary |
Equity, diversity and inclusion have been common themes of discussion with our students in class. From our Pre-K student who learns with visual stimulus to our high school complex thought processors, each week in class affords them the opportunity to see how our differences make us stronger.
PROJECTS
As we introduced concepts such as b’tzelem Elohim and G’vurah, our classes slowed down to explore Jewish family services, ways to care for the sick, and giving the gift of their light to others in need. The 5th and 6th graders created some great posters advocating for the services available to our community.
The adventurous 3rd–4th grade class spent some time looking into who their heroes are and what their characteristics are. Some heroes are comics, some parents, and some that you’ve never met.
Whomever inspires you, take time to understand the “why” like they did. Some of their heroes included grandparents, their families, supreme court justices, and their own madrich, Solomon Selkin!
Our Hebrew High students will be traveling with Rabbi Gorban this month to Washington D.C. for the L’Taken Social Justice Seminar! In partnership with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), they will have the opportunity to impact our country as they share their views on social justice topics with decision-makers on Capitol Hill. Learn more at www.rac.org.
Hanukkah, one of the most widely observed Jewish holidays, is a festive eight-day celebration that for many people falls during the darkest, coldest season of the year. As we bundle up, let’s remember those in crisis who could benefit from a few additional layers through our All Dressed Up clothes drive.
Go through your closets and boxes and help us to rehome that fantastic jacket you bought in Arizona on a road trip, or those snow boots you picked up on a ski trip to Leavenworth and you’ve never worn since. Our All Dressed Up campaign is performing fabulously thanks to the incredible donations received thus far from our awesome students and their families. The final day to donate is December 18, 2022.
