Judaism is part of our heritage, our identity, and our family. Jewish holidays, values of making the world a better place, the emphasis on learning and asking questions and being part of a small population that has a significant impact on the world is something we’re proud of.

We want our children to identify with Judaism and become excited about learning more about Judaism. We hope that our children will have a moral compass to guide them in life, to have a sense of belief and faith that can sustain us in challenging times, and feel so real in joyful times.

Our religious and Hebrew school is where young people can learn about their heritage, discover the beauty of Judaism, connect with our history, and find a place in the Jewish world today.

Back to School—This year Temple Beth El Sisterhood will be sponsoring a Back-to-School Breakfast prior to our first day of class. Religious school families and students are asked to arrive at 9:00 a.m. to enjoy juices, tea, coffee, pastries and other breakfast items to fuel up for their first day back at in-person classes for the year.

Our Sisterhood is excited to continue their tradition of supporting education and our youth through deeds and actions. Do you have a student returning to class with us? We would love to have you join in on the fun!

Our community lunch program is back! Jacob Elstein has devoted his time and energy into returning our community to this amazing opportunity to enjoy a meal together. He uses primarily organic ingredients, fresh herbs and spices along with delicious recipes that are sure to please the palate. Lunches begin starting Sunday, September 11 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the social hall.

Registration—Our dedicated temple staff has sent out registration letters and instructions for the upcoming religious education school year beginning which begins on September 11. Scholarships are available, for those who qualify, to provide our youth with enriching education year-round in their Jewish community.

Hebrew School—Calling all 3rd–7th graders! We are ready to welcome you back to Hebrew school. Our amazing teaching team, Macy Hance and Aaron Petersen, will be running beginning, intermediate and advanced classes on Wednesdays.

Madrichol Program—Our program is designed for students who are in 8th–12th grade religious school who have shown a degree of responsibility and interest in working with our students.

Volunteers—Families are always welcome to volunteer to work with our students. Background checks will be required for all teachers and individuals involved in programming. We appreciate you and your contributions! Email our new Interim Religious Education Director, Madeline Pimentel Diaz at madi@tbetacoma.org or call (646) 421-0056 today!
