OPPORTUNITIES
SISTERHOOD’S ANNUAL MISHLOACH MANOT FUNDRAISER
Each year, Sisterhood lovingly prepares complimentary Purim boxes filled with treats for every TBE household, helping our community fulfill the beautiful mitzvah of mishloach manot—giving gifts of food to friends and family. This act of giving strengthens our bonds and spreads Purim joy to all. Receiving the boxes truly makes a difference in our community! One recipient shared:
"Every year, I look forward to opening my Purim box. It’s a reminder that I’m part of a community that cares about me and that reaches out with kindness and generosity. It really makes Purim more special!"
Join us in honoring this meaningful 18th year by participating in this mitzvah—by donating, you add your name to the card put in each Purim box that’s given out. Your gift strengthens our community, connects us through tradition, and ensures that no one celebrates Purim alone. Donate today! Even if you don’t make a donation, please complete the planning questions regarding gluten-free needs or opting out.
SISTERHOOD PURIM FUNDRAISER FOR EFN: MATANOT L'EVYONIM
From March 1 to 31, Temple Beth El Sisterhood is asking for donations to the Emergency Food Network here in Tacoma. This coincides with Purim and the two parts of the mitzvah for this celebration. The first being mishloach manot, the second matanot l’evyonim (gifts for the poor). This year, join our Sisterhood as we fulfill our Mitzvah and participate not just in the Purim boxes and mishloach manot, but rejoice in our bounty by giving to the Emergency Food Network. Let’s end hunger in our community! Click here to donate.
BILL LEHMAN MEMORIAL BLOOD DRIVE Bill Lehman was a long-time member of Temple Beth El who had donated blood regularly since 1980. As a way to honor his memory and spread some good in our corner of the world, we are holding a virtual blood drive in Bill's memory for the next 14 days. To participate, schedule a donation appointment with Bloodworks at bloodworksnw.org/giveblood between February 10 and 24 (same day appointments often available). You can also call (800) 398-7888 for scheduling. On the day of your donation, share the donor code ‘BILL’ when you check in for your appointment to help us track our impact. Please feel free to share information about this drive with friends, family, and those around you
NEW "TEMPLE BUDDIES" PROGRAM
Do you enjoy connecting with new people? If you thought yes, you are the person we're looking for! Since COVID-19, many people feel isolated and yearn for social connections. Our Membership Committee is looking for those willing to be a buddy for new members: all it takes is a phone call to welcome them and set up a time when you can meet, be it at a weekly service, religious school, or any event on our busy calendar! This is a great chance to foster new relationships and show others that we value them and want their transition into TBE to be comfortable and fulfilling. If you are interested in joining this group or have questions, reach out to membership@tbetacoma.org.
