Saturday: Torah Study, Shabbat Service and Bar Mitzvah of Gabriel Soltz (Multi-access) Saturday, July 20, 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Our Saturday worship experience begins with Torah study from 9:00–9:45 a.m. This will be followed by services and the bar mitzvah of Gabriel Soltz, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (online and in person). At the conclusion of the service, the community is invited to join the family in the social hall for a kiddush luncheon!

Home of Peace Geniza Opening and Annual Cemetery Cleanup Sunday, August 11, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The Home of Peace Cemetery Association invites the entire community to participate in our annual clean-up day. Please plan to come for an hour or two to perform the mitzvah of washing headstones. All supplies will be provided. Contact David Aqua at (253) 753-3134, or aclassicmustang@yahoo.com to sign up for a shift or for further information. This year Rabbi Gorban will lead a brief ceremony at 12:00 p.m. as we carry out the ancient tradition of burying damaged or old sacred books in a genizah. We will bury prayer books from Tacoma’s Temple Beth El in Tacoma and Bet Chaverim in Des Moines. Contact Deb Freedman at (253) 377-4157 for details. Save the Date BBQ Bash for All Ages Sunday, August 25, 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, and favorite lawn games or toys and join us for a BBQ on the TBE lawn! We will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie options. The community is asked to bring a side dish or a dessert to share (dairy free). We are also holding a pie contest, so be sure to bring your entry! The event is free, but we do ask that you RSVP here so we know how much food to buy. Volunteers are needed, please contact Mady Plumer at membership@tbetacoma.org.

Volunteers Needed for Oneg Setup & Cleanup Please sign up to volunteer for oneg setup, cleanup, or both! The sign-up sheet can be found here. Note that you must have a food handler's license in order to prepare food during setup. TBE will reimburse you for the cost of the license ($10), and the training can be done online here.
Religious School Family Survey Help us plan for the 2024–2025 school year and beyond! The Religious Education Committee has designed a short survey for TBE families, asking you to share your hopes and dreams for your child(ren)'s Jewish educational experience(s). It truly is a brief survey, and your answers will help inform decisions about curriculum, programming, and events. The survey is completely anonymous and can be found here.

Welcome, Teddy! We are happy to announce that Teddy Bushnell has joined us as our new Administrative Support Specialist; their first day was Tuesday, July 16th. Teddy is a recent graduate who earned their high school diploma and associate’s degree simultaneously. They are excited to join our team and help us get organized.
