Saturday: Torah Study and Shabbat Service (Multi-access) Saturday, June 22, 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Our Saturday worship experience begins with Torah study from 9:00–9:45 a.m. This will be followed by services, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (online and in person). At the conclusion of the service, the community is invited to join us in the social hall for a kiddush luncheon!
BETY: S'mores & Sheydim Thursday, June 20, 6:15 p.m. Our youth group meeting on June 20 will include a campfire and s'mores in the temple courtyard, telling stories of sheydim, and kicking off the summer with a not-so business-oriented gathering! Los Muevos Ladineros Sunday, June 23, 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Join Los Muevos Ladineros and enjoy socializing over coffee and biscochos as we are guided by our leaders from Seattle Sephardic Network, the American Ladino League, and Sephardic Studies at the University of Washington. The Los Muevos Ladineros program strives to preserve and rejuvenate the endangered Sephardic language of Ladino and aims to create a vibrant group of native Ladino speakers, community members, and students who want to learn Ladino. This meeting will also feature a guest appearance by Professor Bryan Kirschen, a Ladino Linguist from Binghamton Univeristy. Register here. Seattle Sephardic Tours Sunday, June 30, 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Join the Washington State Jewish Historical Society and the Seattle Sephardic Network as we explore the rich history and culture of Seattle's current and historic Sephardic neighborhood. Seattle has the third-largest Sephardic population in the United States and this proud heritage is highlighted in this tour, which takes place in Seattle's Central Area, beginning at Washington Hall. Save the Date Hebrew II - First Session Wednesday, July 10, 5:30–6:30 p.m. You’ve learned the Hebrew letters and vowels, so let’s keep practicing! As you continue to hone your reading and writing skills, start to learn key vocabulary and grammar to help with understanding prayers and biblical texts. Home of Peace Geniza Opening and Annual Cemetery Cleanup Sunday, August 11, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The Home of Peace Cemetery Association invites the entire community to participate in our annual clean-up day. Please plan to come for an hour or two to perform the mitzvah of washing headstones. All supplies will be provided. This year Rabbi Gorban will lead a brief ceremony at 12:00 p.m. as we carry out the ancient tradition of burying damaged or old sacred books in a genizah. Religious School Family Survey Help us plan for the 2024–2025 school year and beyond! The Religious Education Committee has designed a short survey for TBE families, asking you to share your hopes and dreams for your child(ren)'s Jewish educational experience(s). It truly is a brief survey, and your answers will help inform decisions about curriculum, programming, and events. The survey is completely anonymous and can be found at here. Sisterhood: Industrial Sewing Machines Needed Sisterhood needs the use of one or more industrial sewing machines for Sisterhood’s Food Bank Shopping Bags Project. To donate the use of your machine, please contact Mady Plumer at madshell33@icloud.com.
Senior Farmers Market From May 1–October 1, eligible seniors can apply for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program and receive funds to purchase produce from participating farmers markets and roadside stands. Judaica Shop Hours Summer Schedule: Fridays: 5:45–6:25 p.m., before the Erev Shabbat Service and during the oneg.
If you're wanting to purchase candles, cards, or other items and cannot make it on Friday when the shop is open, please call the TBE office at (253) 564-7101, and you will be directed to the Judaica Shop voicemail to schedule an appointment. Appointments can be scheduled from Tuesday–Friday from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
