Saturday: Torah Study and Shabbat Service (Multi-access) Saturday, June 15, 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Our Saturday worship experience begins with Torah study from 9:00–9:45 a.m. This will be followed by services, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (online and in person). At the conclusion of the service, the community is invited to join us in the social hall for a kiddush luncheon!
BETY: White River Rafting Saturday, June 15, depart at 9:00 a.m., event from 1:00–5:00 p.m. Explore the Pacific Northwest summer in style! Join our youth group as we head over to Leavenworth and take a wild ride down the Wenatchee River. This event is for teens ages 13+. Temple Beth El Board Meeting Tuesday, June 18, 6:30 p.m. The Temple Beth El Board of Trustees welcomes all members to attend the monthly board meeting. Save the Date Hebrew II - First Session Wednesday, July 10, 5:30–6:30 p.m. You’ve learned the Hebrew letters and vowels, so let’s keep practicing! As you continue to hone your reading and writing skills, start to learn key vocabulary and grammar to help with understanding prayers and biblical texts. Home of Peace Geniza Opening and Annual Cemetery Cleanup Sunday, August 11, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The Home of Peace Cemetery Association invites the entire community to participate in our annual clean-up day. Please plan to come for an hour or two to perform the mitzvah of washing headstones. All supplies will be provided. This year Rabbi Gorban will lead a brief ceremony at 12:00 p.m. as we carry out the ancient tradition of burying damaged or old sacred books in a genizah. Religious School Family Survey Help us plan for the 2024–2025 school year and beyond! The Religious Education Committee has designed a short survey for TBE families, asking you to share your hopes and dreams for your child(ren)'s Jewish educational experience(s). It truly is a brief survey, and your answers will help inform decisions about curriculum, programming, and events. The survey is completely anonymous and can be found at here. Sisterhood: Industrial Sewing Machines Needed Sisterhood needs the use of one or more industrial sewing machines for Sisterhood’s Food Bank Shopping Bags Project. To donate the use of your machine, please contact Mady Plumer at madshell33@icloud.com. JFS: Summer Market Gleaning Help Jewish Family Service (JFS) provide fresh produce for our community! One of the ways that the JFS Polack Food Bank receives fresh produce is through market gleaning at the Broadway Farmers Market on Capitol Hill. Volunteers support this effort two Sundays a month by collecting, transporting, and sorting gleaned produce collected at the end of the market day. All are welcome to attend; no previous knowledge of Judaism is needed to participate. For more information or to register, please click here.
JFS: Summer Farm Gleaning One of the ways that the JFS Polack Food Bank receives fresh produce is by engaging in farm gleaning at the Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center in Carnation, WA. Volunteers support this effort one Tuesday a month by harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables straight from the farm to send to our food bank. Families are welcome! Please consider your child's ability to be outside with minimal shade for the entire two hours in varying weather conditions before signing up (the recommended age for participating is 8 or older). Judaica Shop Hours Summer Schedule: Fridays: 5:45–6:25 p.m., before the Erev Shabbat Service and during the oneg.
If you're wanting to purchase candles, cards, or other items and cannot make it on Friday when the shop is open, please call the TBE office at (253) 564-7101, and you will be directed to the Judaica Shop voicemail to schedule an appointment. Appointments can be scheduled from Tuesday–Friday from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. starting June 18.
