Friday: Erev Shabbat Service (Multi-access) Friday, August 25, 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to join us online or in person for an Erev Shabbat service led by Rabbi Gorban. Join us before the service for an oneg sponsored by Bill Hershkowitz in honor of his wife, Linda (z"l).

Saturday: Torah Study and Shabbat Service (Multi-access) Saturday, August 26, 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Our Saturday worship experience begins with Torah study from 9:00–9:45 a.m. This will be followed by services beginning at 10:00 a.m. (online and in person). All are invited! At the conclusion of the service, please join us in the social hall for a potluck lunch and bring a dish to share! Dishes can be pescatarian (dairy and fish allowed).

If you have not joined us in the past, we are sure you will find our High Holy Day services to be warm, welcoming and spiritually fulfilling. If you are a member of Temple Beth El, you will be receiving your passes in the mail within the next week and do not need to register for services. If you have family members in town that would also like to attend services, or you are a member of another synagogue, please contact Olivia at olivia@tbetacoma.org for passes.
Spiff It Up Day (In-person) Sunday, August 27, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Actitives for all ages—outside and inside—with the purpose to make our temple and grounds sparkle before High Holy Days. Inside, many helpers are needed! We are doing an inventory of each room in our temple. Please bring your cell phone for taking photos, and basic writing skills for descriptions are helpful. This is a mitzvah needed for our temple insurance so your assistance is greatly appreciated. Other jobs will also be available too. Community Harvest Day (In-Person) Sunday, August 27, 12:00–4:00 p.m. The community is invited to a Community Harvest Day at Curran Apple Orchard where you are welcome to pick apples from untapped trees. Please bring picking bags from home and limit yourself to two bags to leave enough apples for everyone to enjoy. The Community Harvest Day is an opportunity for people to come and enjoy the park. TBE will be there from 12:00–4:00 p.m. with a picnic area where we will explain the connection between apples and Rosh HaShanah for those who come. Annual Home of Peace Cemetery Pilgrimage (In-person) Sunday, September 10, 11:00 a.m. It is traditional to visit the graves of relatives annually, around the time of the High Holy Days. Temple Beth El clergy will be on hand to meet graveside with family members. Directions to the cemetery are available here. For questions, call the cemetery president, David Aqua, at (253) 753-3134.

High Holy Day Food Drive Our annual High Holy Day Food Drive is coming up! Check out the August bulletin for full information on this year's campaign. Want to give us a head start? Kick off the food drive by making a donation to Emergency Food Network. And, if you have gently used paper bags in your house that you'd like to contribute for the collection of items, please drop them off at temple no later than August 31.
If you attend Saturday services online and wish to purchase your own copy of the Mishkan T'filah (the prayer book used at our Shabbat services), the Judaica Shop has them in stock! Come and check out our new Pride items and sale table. New Year items are on sale—cards, gifts, and service items.
