Saturday: Torah Study, Shabbat Service (Multi-access) Saturday, July 22, 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Our Saturday worship experience begins with Torah Study from 9:00–9:45 a.m. This will be followed by services beginning at 10:00 a.m. (online and in person). All are invited! Reminder: We are doing potluck lunches after services on Saturday. Join us, and bring a dish to share! Dishes can be pescatarian (dairy and fish allowed).
TBE Movie Night (In-person) Saturday, July 22, 5:00–8:00 p.m. Join us for movie night at TBE, complete with popcorn, drinks, and hotdog bar. All proceeds will go to the Religious Education Programming. Our featured film: E.T. Bring a blanket and be ready for an out of this world evening! Suggested donation is $18 per family. Questions? Home of Peace Cemetery Cleanup (In-person) Sunday, July 23, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. The Home of Peace Cemetery will have the annual grounds cleanup on Sunday, July 23. Come for an hour or two and perform mitzvahs of cleaning the headstones and picking up trash. All equipment will be provided. TBE’s Green Team/Dayenu Climate Change Circle Kick Off (In-person) Tuesday, August 16, 6:00–7:10 p.m. All are welcome to join us in the TBE social hall to meet your Green Team. Snack on popcorn while we watch a short video on grass alternatives, and meet with Pierce County Conservation District landscape designers. We’ll have art supplies for the little ones. Disarming Danger: BeAware Situational Awareness Training (Zoom) Thursday, July 27, 11:00 a.m. Join the Secure Community Network for a webinar to learn how to disarm danger before it occurs with our national BeAware situational awareness training curriculum. Led by Jewish communal security training experts, this webinar will also include insight from former FBI Special Agent and Threat Assessment Expert Molly Amman. Jewish Family Service: One-Day-Only Furniture Drive On Sunday, August 13, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., the JFS Refugee & Immigrant Resettlement program will be hosting a gently used furniture donation drive at Herzl Ner-Tamid Congregation on Mercer Island! They are inviting all in the community to swing by and drop off furniture items in the following categories:
Couches (max. 8 feet in length: no futons, foldouts, or recliners)
Armchairs (no recliners)
Dining tables and chairs (sets or standalone, no glass tops)
Small coffee tables, or side tables
Floor lamps
Microwaves (thoroughly cleaned)
Vacuum cleaners
Without these donations, families have to pay out of pocket to furnish their living spaces upon arriving — but with your support we can help our new neighbors get settled into their new homes. Due to limited storage space, they will not be able to take donations outside of this list so please make sure the items you drop off fit the descriptions above. Also, they are not able to pick up any items. Please save the date and spread the word! For more information, please email volunteer@jfsseattle.org.
If you attend Saturday services online and wish to purchase your own copy of the Mishkan T'filah (the prayer book used at our Shabbat services), the Judaica Shop has them in stock!
