Havdalah (Zoom)
Saturday, July 9, 7:30 p.m.

Please celebrate Zoom Havdalah here.
Zoom Meeting ID: 320 3406 647.

What will I need?
Just yourself! However, if you would like to participate in blessings at home, Havdalah blessings are said over wine, besamim (fragrant spices), and a braided Havdalah candle.

What if I don't have those things?
If you don't have a Havdalah candle at home, you can use two candles (or even two matches) joining the flames as the blessing is recited. And if you do not have wine, it can be substituted with something you might use to celebrate or offer to a guest, perhaps coffee or tea. And, most importantly, if you don't have any of these things, just come to say blessings and be together. You can find the Havdalah blessings here.

Save the Date

Against Gun Violence? Save the Date
Sunday, August 14

During the past month, the numbers of innocent lives lost to gun violence is horrifying. Temple Beth El is collaborating with community groups to bring a walk, a march, a demonstration, a gathering to protest gun violence. Save Sunday, August 14 as the date voices in Tacoma will say enough to gun violence in our communities.

Opportunities

Ways to Make a Difference—The Rabbi's Discretionary Fund
By giving to this fund, you will help provide Rabbi Gorban with an important financial resource for assisting temple or Tacoma community members who are most in need of special support. From a tank of gas and groceries to feed hungry kids to help keeping someone safe and supported when they face something unexpected in their lives, you help make it possible! You can make your contribution here. Thank you for keeping our community a supportive space!

Lunch Sack Program—AIDNW/JCIJ
TBE is coordinating with Advocates for Immigrant Justice and Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice to provide 20 sack lunches for the first Thursday of each month in order to feed newly released detainees from the NW Detention Center in Tacoma. Volunteers are needed for the months of July and August in order to make this happen! Please email Mady Plumer at madshell33@icloud.com or call her at (253) 377-4615 if you would like to volunteer. This event is sponsored by Sisterhood but we need the participation of the whole community!

Volunteers Needed for the Temple Tech Team (Soundboard)
The Temple Tech Team desperately needs more volunteers. No experience necessary—training is provided! In addition to training, a step-by-step guide is provided for you. One Friday evening a month is all we ask. To sign up, please contact Jordan Harris at jhhandjnh@aol.com or (253) 414-7237 or Aaron Petersen at aharon.micharl78@gmail.com.
