Havdalah
Saturday, December 18, 7:30 PM (Zoom)

Please follow the link to celebrate Zoom Havdalah:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3203406647. Meeting ID: 320 3406 647.

What will I need?
Just yourself! However, if you would like to participate in blessings at home, Havdalah blessings are said over wine, besamim (fragrant spices), and a braided Havdalah candle.

What if I don't have those things?

If you don't have a Havdalah candle at home, you can use two candles (or even two matches) joining the flames as the blessing is recited. And if you do not have wine, it can be substituted with something you might use to celebrate or offer to a guest, perhaps coffee or tea. And, most importantly, if you don't have any of these things, just come to say blessings and be together. You can find the Havdalah blessings here.

Sisterhood Empanada Cooking Class
Tuesday, December 21, 5:30 PM (virtual—Sisterhood members only)

During this live and interactive online cooking class with Sisterhood member, Madeline Laila, you will learn how to make authentic empanadas from scratch right in your own kitchen. She will begin by teaching you how to prepare an authentic empanada dough using ingredients you likely already have on hand. Then, you will learn how to make a traditional flavor-packed Dominican beef filling. As you prepare your dish, she will take you on a culinary journey to learn how we are all connected through food and show examples of empanadas across the world. The class is fully interactive and chef Madeline will walk you through the entire process. Ask as many questions as you like!

Finding Comfort in Uncomfortable Prayer (Sisterhood sponsored event)
Sunday, January 9, 2:00–3:30 PM

Open to all TBE members! Please join us for this inspirational presentation by Dr. Madelyn Katz. Everyone has had a moment of discomfort when they realized they didn't necessarily agree with the words in a prayer. It’s difficult to know how to respond to that reaction, but it’s a very common and healthy response; it means we are really paying attention to what the prayers are saying. In Dr. Katz’s session, a number of those responses will be uncovered and participants will be given an opportunity to share their personal moments of discomfort if they wish. Discussion will then turn to how to respond to that discomfort and turn it into a meaningful and prayerful experience. Stay tuned for registration information.
