Havdalah
Saturday, November 6th, 7:30 p.m. (Zoom)
Please follow the link to celebrate Zoom Havdalah. Meeting ID: 320 3406 647.
What will I need?
Just yourself! However, if you would like to participate in blessings at home, Havdalah blessings are said over wine, besamim (fragrant spices), and a braided Havdalah candle.
What if I don't have those things?
If you don't have a Havdalah candle at home, you can use two candles (or even two matches) joining the flames as the blessing is recited. And if you do not have wine, it can be substituted with something you might use to celebrate or offer to a guest, perhaps coffee or tea. And, most importantly, if you don't have any of these things, just come to say blessings and be together. Please find a link to the Havdalah blessings here.

Jews and Climate Justice: Building a United Front (Online)
Tuesday, November 9th, 11:00 a.m. PST | 6:00 p.m. GMT
Jews have a long history of bold action for justice. To help to create a sustainable future, Jews must build alliances with all peoples. However, the long history of anti-Semitism, racism, and genocides against many peoples has damaged and divided us. We need to understand and heal from the damage to build the relationships we need for a powerful, united movement to sustain all life. In this workshop, we will invite you to:
- Gain perspective about the particular role that anti-Semitism has played in dividing progressive movements
- Share your story as a Jew or ally to Jews working for climate justice
- Practice paired listening tools for alliance building with all peoples
- Learn the approaches used by Sustaining All Life and United to End Racism to heal from the damage of oppression, increase our effectiveness in the climate justice movement, and prevent burnout

Interfaith Celebration of Gratitude (Virtual)
Tuesday, November 23rd, 7:00 p.m.
Please join us as we come together virtually during this season of thanksgiving. Associated Ministries’ annual Interfaith Celebration of Gratitude is one of the most inspiring gatherings in our local faith community, and is being hosted this year by Temple Beth El. The theme is "The Moments In-Between: Discovering the Joy!" For nearly 35 years, this annual service has brought together people of many faith traditions—it is more vital than ever for us to gather this year, even though we cannot do so in person. As always, this event is free but advance registration is required in order to receive the Zoom meeting link. Click here to register. If you have questions, please contact Sandy Windley at sandyw@associatedministries.org.

Opportunities
Fire at St. Charles
Early on Sunday, October 24th, a fire at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish caused considerable damage to the parish office building—fortunately, no one was injured. A suspect was arrested on Thursday, October 28 in connection to the St. Charles fire as well as five other fires in Tacoma.
We hope that you will lend a helping hand as they rebuild and recover and consider making a contribution towards the fund to rebuild the parish office building. Please go here to make a donation.

Home of Peace cemetery advisory
Starting on November 1st, Pierce County closed Steilacoom Boulevard in front of the cemetery. They will be doing road repair due to broken pipes about 25 feet down. They are expecting the work to last three months. Although the road will be closed, our gate will be open during daylight hours.
The sidewalk in front of the cemetery will be available to access the front entrance. Also, Steilacoom Boulevard will be open eastbound from Bridgeport to Gravelly Lake Dr. SW.
For anyone wanting to visit the cemetery, we suggest turning on Steilacoom Boulevard from Bridgeport until you reach Gravelly Lake Dr. SW. At that point you can look for parking by turning right onto Gravelly Lake Dr. SW or left onto a narrow road that leads to the Lochburn Middle School. Unfortunately, you will have to walk from your vehicle to our front gate. For a funeral, we will have at least one Home of Peace Association board member there to open the side gate to the cemetery parking lot.
Contact the clergy
If you have a question or concern you would like to share with the clergy, please email Rabbi Tiwy at rabbitiwy@tbetacoma.org or Cantor Fine at cantorfine@tbetacoma.org.
