Hebrew Tutoring
Tutorial assistance is available to children who need catch-up work, special attention, or a different approach from the classroom, and to those who wish acceleration. Two types of tutors are available: peer tutors and private tutors.
Peer Tutors/Madrichol may be used in the Hebrew classes or in a one-on-one situation outside of class. Students needing additional assistance to understand a concept, develop confidence, or make up missed work are eligible for peer tutors. This is a short-term situation for children needing a small amount of help to participate in the regularly scheduled class. There is no charge to parents for this short-term tutorial assistance and textbooks are provided.
Private Tutors are used for acceleration, to maintain skills over the summer, for remedial assistance, and to reach a level of Hebrew that matches their desired age/grade level. The Rabbi or Religious Education Director will provide a list of at least two names of individuals qualified to teach Hebrew at the level needed by the student. Students may or may not be enrolled simultaneously in a Hebrew class. Parents are responsible for payment to the tutor directly and for the purchase of any materials needed.
