Description:
Unlike most other Hasidic texts, the Tanya is not a Torah commentary arranged by parashah, nor a collection of sermons arranged by the holidays, nor a volume of halachic responsa. Rather, the Tanya is its own kind of book, on the inner life of the soul, the navigation of a moral life, and the elevation of the spirit. It is also called the sefer shel Beinonim, the book for Inbetweeners, as this is the subset of the Jewish population addressed by this book: neither people who are entirely righteous, nor people who are entirely wicked, but people with inner traits of both the righteous and the wicked.

Textbook: Tanya, the Masterpiece of Hasidic Wisdom by Rabbi Rami Shapiro
